Deliveroo Holdings Plc Company profile

Keep up-to-date with the Deliveroo share price today using Capital.com’s live chart

Deliveroo (ROO) is a UK-based company specialising in online food delivery. Utilising its network of ‘riders’, the firm partners with restaurants of all sizes – from household names like Burger King and Subway to local takeaways.

The company went public in March 2021. Deliveroo shares are now listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the ticker symbol ROO.

Join Capital.com now to stay on top of the latest market news and watch the ROO share price live.

When founder and CEO Will Shu moved to London in 2013, he found that the majority of the city’s restaurants did not offer a delivery service. Alongside his friend Greg Orlowski, the pair founded Deliveroo with the goal of enabling as many people as possible to have food delivered to their doorsteps. By partnering with local businesses, restaurants increase their revenues while allowing Deliveroo to handle the delivery service.

Customers place and pay for their order through Deliveroo’s online platform, from a list of available restaurants based on their postcode. Deliveroo makes its money by charging a set delivery fee, as well as an agreed percentage of each order from its restaurant partners. Utilising its network of local riders, the company’s innovative mobile application assigns the job to the closest one, who collects the order from the restaurant and delivers it to the customer’s door.

The firm has been through 11 rounds of funding since 2014, raising over $1.7bn. This has enabled the business to aggressively expand its operations. As of March 2021, Deliveroo had presence in 11 countries, established partnerships with 140,000 restaurants, and had over 100,000 riders around the globe.

With Capital.com’s comprehensive live chart, you can not only quickly view the current Deliveroo stock price, but also trace the company’s share value in historic terms.

On 15 March, 2021, the company announced its intention to launch an initial public offering (IPO) of Class A shares on the LSE. A further press release dated 31 March, 2021, stated that the offer would be priced at £3.90 per share, giving Deliveroo a market capitalisation of £7.6bn.

The IPO launched on 31 March, 2021, and the price quickly fell by 30 per cent to the intraday low of £2.71, before rising slightly to end the first trading day at £2.87. The ROO stock chart shows the price then rallied to £3.10 per share on 1 April, 2021, but closed the session at £2.82.

You can trace all the latest ups and downs of the ROO stock quote and go long or short on the company’s shares with CFDs using Capital.com’s proprietary trading platform.
