Wheat is one of the most popular and widely-cultivated crops all over the world. The world’s top producers of wheat include Pakistan, Germany, Canada, France, the USA and Russia. There are several classes of wheat with slightly different characteristics that grow in particular areas. The most widely grown sort is called common wheat. Farmers often try to forecast which class of wheat will perform the best in the futures market. Wheat futures are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Globex) under the ticker symbol ZO.
