Royal Caribbean Cruises Company profile

Royal Caribbean Group (RCL) is a cruise company that controls and operates three global crude brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises. 

It also owns a 50% interest in TUI Cruises GmbH (TUIC), a joint venture with a German tourism company TUI AG. TUIC operates the German brands' TUI Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, collectively called “Partner Brands”.

Its Global Brands and Partner Brands operate 61 ships, serving more than 1,000 destinations in 120 countries, as of 31 December 2021. 

Founded in 1968, Royal Caribbean Cruises pioneered cruise vacationing with various entertaining onboard activities, including surfing, rock climbing and ice skating. 

Its brand Royal Caribbean International is the world’s largest cruise brand. It operates 25 ships and targets various guests by offering a wide variety of itineraries to destinations worldwide, from Alaska to Asia and Panama Canal.

The company’s Celebrity Cruises caters for the luxury segment of the cruise vacation industry, targeting affluent customers. Operating 14 ships, Celebrity Cruises offers luxurious accommodations and onboard services.

Silversea Cruises offers ultra-luxury and expedition cruise lines with smaller ships, high standards of accommodations, fine dining, personalised service and exotic itineraries. It sails to unique and remote destinations, such as the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica and the Arctic. It operates ten ships. 

TUIC operates seven ships and serves premium segments of the German cruise market. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises operates two luxury liners and three smaller expedition ships.

Since its establishment in 1968, its corporate structure has evolved. The current parent corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., was incorporated on 23 July 1985 in the Republic of Liberia. 

The Florida-based Royal Caribbean became public in 1993, and its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RCL.
