The base currency – NZD. The counter currency – USD. The NZD/USD chart is the New Zealand dollar/American dollar currency pair. It shows how much the NZD is worth when measured against the USD. Trading the NZD/USD is often called trading the ‘Kiwi’, because the $1 coin portraits a kiwi bird. The pair is one of the 10 most-traded currency pairs in the world. It gained significant appeal during the long-term commodity boom that happened around the world. In 2012, after Kiwi appreciation got too high, New Zealand’s Reserve Bank intervened to devalue the New Zealand dollar.
