US Cash Grains-Corn basis mixed, soy steady as futures ease
CHICAGO, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans were steady and corn basis bids were mixed in the US Midwest on Tuesday as futures eased and the corn and soybean harvest wrapped up.
US farmers had harvested 88% of the nation's soybean crop as of Sunday, slightly ahead of the five-year average, while the corn harvest stood at 74% complete, lagging behind the normal pace, according to weekly data issued by the US Department of Agriculture on Monday.
Farmers are harvesting what is forecast to be the biggest US soybean crop in history and the second-largest corn crop.
The USDA reported US exporters sold 134,000 metric tons of soybeans to unknown destinations for 2026/2027 delivery. Exporters also sold 136,000 tons of corn to South Korea and 315,000 tons to Mexico, both for 2026/2027 delivery.
CBOT corn was last 3-3/4 cents lower at $4.44-1/4 a bushel, while soybeans fell 3-1/4 cents to $12.14 a bushel.
