Qatar Airways Group has signed its first Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option (JOLCO) financing agreement, marking the airline's debut in Japan's aircraft financing market as it seeks to diversify funding sources and support future fleet expansion.

HSBC acted as debt arranger and sole lender, while JLPS underwrote and arranged the equity component of the financing.

The deal represents the first of three planned transactions under Qatar Airways Group's inaugural Japanese financing programme, which is expected to support the financing of seven aircraft in total.
