Proposed Air Canada route deal with United Airlines to weigh on competition, watchdog says
MONTREAL, Oct 28 (Reuters) - A proposed arrangement between Air Canada AC.TO and United Airlines UAL.O would likely harm competition on 10 routes between the United States and its northern neighbor, a Canadian competition watchdog said on Wednesday.
Canada's Competition Bureau says a proposal by the two airlines to expand their coordination, including on pricing, on 10 specific routes would create or reinforce monopoly or near-monopoly conditions. The bureau says its report will inform a public interest review by the Canadian government of the proposed arrangement.
