EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: TECH REBOUNDS, ALSTOM SLUMPS

European shares were set for a slightly firmer start on Monday as oil prices fell and US futures rebounded, though midterm elections and more tech earnings could keep markets volatile.

Futures on the Euro STOXX 50 .STOXX50E gained 0.1%, while those on the DAX .GDAXI and FTSE 100 .FTSE were slightly lower.

Nasdaq futures advanced 0.7% after Friday's sharp selloff, with Apple AAPL.O results due later on Monday and updates from Nvidia, Broadcom and other AI-linked tech heavyweights later this month keeping the earnings spotlight firmly on the sector.

In European premarket trade, AI names led gains, with ASML ASML.AS, Infineon IFXGn.DE, Siemens Energy ENR1n.DE and Prysmian PRY.MI rising between 1% and 2% on Tradegate.

At the other end, Alstom ALSO.PA slumped 20% before the bell after cutting guidance again and forecasting a €1.5 billion cash outflow. Energy stocks were mostly lower, tracking a more than 3% drop in crude prices.

Later in the week, central banks in Sweden, Britain and Norway meet to decide policy.
