DOWN, NOT OUT
European equities opened lower, but they aren't falling quite as sharply as futures pricing suggested ahead of the market open. The STOXX 600 .STOXX is down around 0.6%, while the CAC .FCHI, DAX .GDAXI and FTSE .FTSE are all between 0.5% and 0.9% lower.
And while sentiment might be off based on a mix of tech jitters, oil prices climbing again, and US midterms, a few chunky single stock moves lower are also part of Tuesday's story so far.
One of those is German software company Teamviewer TMV.DE, which has tumbled a whopping 24% after it cut its annual sales guidance. Alstom ALSO.PA is meanwhile down almost 10% as various banks have cut their ratings and target prices for the French train maker. No bounceback there after the stock fell over 26% in the previous session after cutting its full-year outlook and launching a debt cutting plan.
On the other end of the spectrum sits Drax DRX.L, with shares up near 9% after the British power company partnered with Brookfield BAM.N and AI infrastructure platform Radiant to develop a data centre at its northern England power station.
Taking a quick look at sectors, tech stocks .SX8P are down just over 2% and among the biggest decliners next to miners .SXPP, which fell 2.5%. Only few sectors are in the green, leading them are healthcare names .SXDP with a 0.4% nudge higher.
