Hungary's central bank to assess government fiscal plans in December inflation report
Oct 20 (Reuters) - The Hungarian government's fiscal targets look consistent with requirements for its ambition of adopting the euro, and the central bank will give a full assessment of fiscal plans in a December inflation report, the bank's governor said on Tuesday.
Governor Mihaly Varga, speaking after the central bank kept interest rates unchanged at a policy meeting, added fiscal policy would need to be disciplined to meet the government's budget targets.
He also said entering the euro zone's ERM-2 exchange rate mechanism, part of the process of adopting the euro, could be done fairly quickly.
