- UAE state oil giant Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has signed a multi-year agreement with Gulf Group to supply liquefied natural gas to Thailand, it said on Monday.

  • Thailand, Southeast Asia's biggest LNG importer, has been diversifying sourcing of the gas after the US-Israeli war on Iran forced importers reliant on Qatari shipments to look elsewhere, with the United Arab Emirates gaining market share in Asia.

  • Under the sales and purchase agreement, ADNOC's trading arm will supply up to 2 million metric tons of LNG to Thailand-based energy and infrastructure conglomerate Gulf Group over a multi-year term, starting in 2027. The exact length of the deal was not disclosed.

  • The deal reinforces ADNOC's commitment to ensuring reliable energy supplies to Thailand and Asia, and extends an existing sales and purchase agreement with Gulf Group, which was signed in 2025, the statement said.

  • The oil giant launched a new LNG marketing and trading platform this year and is targeting 47 million tons per annum (mtpa) of combined marketable LNG by 2035, which would rank it among the world's largest LNG players.
