Taiwan Q3 preliminary GDP beats forecasts on solid AI demand
TAIPEI, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Taiwan's export-driven, tech-centred economy grew faster than expected in the third quarter of 2026, indicating that demand for AI-related chips and technology remains resilient.
Taiwan's gross domestic product expanded 14.36% year-on-year in the July to September quarter, the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics said on Friday.
That exceeded the 12% forecast by economists in a Reuters poll, and surpassed the 12.93% growth rate of the second quarter.
The island's economy has shown robust growth thanks to its position as a major producer of the advanced semiconductors powering the AI revolution.
TSMC 2330.TW, leads the island's technology supply chain, serving global giants such as Nvidia NVDA.O and Apple AAPL.O.
