By Staff Writer
Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC) announced the partial acceptance and handover of its new production line on 21 September 2026, as the project moves towards full commercial operations.
The partial handover forms part of the project's completion phases under the approved implementation plan, the company said in a stock exchange statement.
Handover of the remaining project components and the start of commercial operations for the entire project are expected to be completed before the end of 2026, the statement said.
SPCC awarded the contract to Sinoma International Engineering Company in 2023 for the construction of a clinker production line with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day (tpd) and cement grinding capacity of 10,000 tpd.
The contract also includes infrastructure for an additional clinker production line with a capacity of 5,000 tpd.
In December 2025, SPCC announced the start of trial operations at some stages of the new production line. The first trial batch of clinker was produced on 29 December 2025.
