Olive Garden parent misses quarterly sales and profit estimates

- Darden Restaurants DRI.N missed first-quarter sales and profit estimates on Thursday, as budget-conscious diners curtailed restaurant spending and prioritized value-focused purchases.

The company reported sales of $3.2 billion in the quarter, compared with analysts' estimate of $3.21 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

Its quarterly adjusted profit from continuing operations came in at $2.05 per share, below estimates of $2.06.
