By Reuters News

- New Zealand's central bank on Friday named Stan Christian as its director of prudential supervision, a role that will see him lead the day-to-day frontline supervision of banks, licensed non-bank deposit takers and insurance companies.

  • The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), which also serves as the country's banking regulator, has split its central bank duties and banking supervision roles across different entities

  • Christian, who is currently the acting director of prudential supervision, joined the RBNZ in 2018, where he has worked across a range of prudential supervision roles

  • Before joining the RBNZ, Christian held senior risk management and corporate services roles at international banks across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Britain

  • Christian will formally take up the role on November 1
