Metlen, Shell sign long-term LNG supply deal

By Reuters News

- Greece's Metlen Energy & Metals MTLN.L and Shell SHEL.L signed a binding long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement, the companies said on Monday.

  • Metlen said the agreement covers six LNG cargoes annually, equivalent to about 0.6 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year, over five years beginning in 2027

  • Shell Global LNG Limited will supply the cargoes primarily from Shell's US LNG portfolio, and deliver them for use in Greece or other European gas markets via the Vertical Gas Corridor, a route from Greece through central Europe and Ukraine

  • Metlen said the agreement would strengthen its long-term gas supply portfolio, diversify sourcing and provide greater commercial flexibility across European energy markets

  • The deal builds on a memorandum of understanding signed by the two companies in February 2026 covering LNG supply and trading cooperation between 2027 and 2031
