- India's AM Green Ammonia expects to secure buyers by mid-2027 for the 1 million metric tons per year of green ammonia it aims to produce at its facility in southern India, its chief executive said.

  • Demand for green fuels has strengthened in 2026 in Japan, South Korea and Europe, Gautam Reddy Kumbam said at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit.

  • The facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, is expected to begin production in early 2028, with output reaching 500,000 tons by mid-2028 and 1 million tonnes by March-2029.

  • Germany's Uniper has signed a deal to buy up to 500,000 tons per year.

  • AM Green's production is earmarked entirely for export markets. India is targeting production of 5 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030.

  • Green ammonia, produced using green hydrogen generated from renewable energy, is viewed as a key export fuel and feedstock for decarbonising industries such as refining, shipping, power generation and fertilisers.

  • The company is backed by AM Green, Malaysia's Gentari, Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
