Attendo: Construction begins on new Unika LSS home for children and young people in Nacka

On 25 September, construction will officially begin on a new LSS home for children and young people with disabilities in Nacka, outside Stockholm. The home will be part of Unika, Attendo’s specialist provider of individually tailored support and services under LSS, and will accommodate four children and young people. The aim is to provide a safe and supportive home environment where each individual receives support tailored to their needs and is given the opportunity to develop, participate and live as independently as possible.

The new home is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027, and to open in September of the same year. The home will operate under Section 9, item 8 of the Swedish Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS), which covers residential arrangements for children and young people who need to live away from their family home. Staff will be available 24/7.

“This is an important addition that will enable more children and young people with extensive support needs to have a safe and long-term home where support is tailored to each individual. Above all, it should feel like a home, a place where children and young people feel safe, are supported in developing according to their own abilities and can enjoy a meaningful everyday life with opportunities for participation and independence,” says Mikael Solinger, Regional Director Specialist Services at Unika.

Support will be individually tailored to each child’s individual needs, in close collaboration with their family and the other people involved in supporting the child. The home will include both private and shared spaces for meals, activities and spending time together. The aim is to create a safe and homelike environment with close connections to the surrounding community.
