Characters from Genius Brands’ intellectual property (IP) also appear on a wide range of consumer products for the global retail marketplace, thanks to licensing agreements with leading partners.
Producer and writer Andy Heyward founded the company in January 2006. Heyward has produced famous children’s television shows, including Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones.
The company’s new Kartoon Channel!, launched in June 2020, is available on a variety of platforms, including Comcast, Cox, DISH, Amazon Prime, Sling TV, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire.
Its primary source of revenue is licensing and merchandising activities from its IP content. By the end of 2020, the company licensed its content to more than 50 broadcasters in over 145 countries. In addition, merchandise bearing its mark can be found in a wide variety of retail outlets, including Wal-Mart, Target, Barnes & Noble and Kohl’s.
