Basics

The Capital.com Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Price Widget helps you to stay in touch with crypto markets and get up to date prices from our real time price feeds.

The widget is designed to be battery-savvy - check Power Saving Hints for more details.

Use Price Heartbeat and Price Health Status indicators to get a clear idea if price information is fresh and updating in real time.

If you want us to add price feeds for specific crypto markets, have a question, suggestion or issue using our widget, let us know by adding a comment on our widget page on the Connect IQ Store.

You can take a brief look at the Main Price Feed of your choice at Glance View, or access other price feeds from the Main Screen.

Glance View. Press the START button to enter the Main Screen.

Main Screen. Press UP/DOWN buttons to switch Price Feeds, or press START to enter the Configuration and Settings.

Glance View

Widget supports three configurable Glance Styles: Chart, Line and Text.

Text Glance Style is minimalist, and provides only price information, to reduce information overload.

Line Glance Style is designed to give you a brief idea of what is going on with the market, without being too distracting.

Chart Glance Style shows you a complete mini-chart of what is going on with price and is designed for those who want to stay connected with markets 24/7.

Text

Line

Chart

If Market Name is too long to fit available screen space on Chart Glance together with Price Change, Price Change will be hidden and only Market Name will be displayed.

Note: You see glance view only if you have Widget Glances enabled in your system settings.

Live Price Updates

Live Price Updates at the Glance View are not supported on your smartwatch. Price Updates at the Glance View will happen at smartwatch-specific intervals, and Background Updates indicator will be displayed.

Main Screen

Here you can look at high quality price charts for your Main Price Feed, and access other Price Feeds.

Use UP/DOWN buttons to switch Price Feeds, or press START to enter the Configuration and Settings menu.

Note: If you have Widget Glances disabled in your system settings, Main Screen with Main Price Feed selected are shown automatically when widget is viewed in a widget loop. Use the START button to switch Price Feeds, or press and hold the MENU button to enter the Configuration and Settings menu.

Price Heartbeat

Price Heartbeat is a visual indicator of price updates that changes even if the price has not changed since the last update. This provides a clear visual clue that you are looking at the up to date price, and price feed connection is healthy and not limited by power saving.

The appearance of Price Heartbeat will change with every price update received.

Price Heartbeat changes freeze with empty heartbeat markers if no price updates are available at the moment.

Price Health Status

Price Health Status is a visual indicator of price update progress, and it is designed to give you an idea of the reason for the price not updating.

If the price is healthy and updating properly, no visual indicator is shown.

This is shown if a price request is sent, and the watch is waiting for an update to come from our servers.

This is shown if price updates are paused as Power Saving mode is activated - check your watch battery level and Power Saving options selected in Settings.

Shown if unable to get price updates due to a local error - this typically happens when there is no Bluetooth connection with a phone.

Shown if unable to get price updates due to a remote error - this typically happens when a phone has no internet connection, if data transfer is limited due to Roaming mode, or internet connection is slow or laggy due to low radio signal or bad network coverage.

Shown at the Glance View to indicate that the price updates are only available in background at the smartwatch-specific intervals.

Price Scaling

If price value is too large to fit your smartwatch screen, widget will automatically scale the Quote Currency and will display price in thousands of Quote Currency units.

When Quote Currency Scaling is applied, the k character (stands for kilo) will be prepended to the Quote Currency part of the price ticker name.

For example, price of Bitcoin to Japanese Yen can be displayed in thousands of Yen, and the ticker name will be shown as BTC/kJPY.

If price value is too small and has too many leading zeros, widget will automatically scale the Lot Size and will display price of a thousand of coin/token units.

When Lot Size Scaling is applied, the k character (stands for kilo) will be prepended to the coin/token part of the price ticker name.

For example, price of Shiba Inu to US Dollar can be displayed for a thousand of SHIB, and the ticker name will be shown as kSHIB/USD.

Power Saving Hints

While default settings of the widget are designed to be as power efficient as possible, there are still several options you can use to improve battery life even further:

  • Switch on Power Saving in Settings to pause price updates if battery level drops below certain thresholds.
  • Select Text Glance Style in Settings. This will reduce the amount of computations performed to show you chart data.
  • Set Price Updates interval in Settings to higher value. This will make Price Updates less frequent, but will slightly improve battery life. Note that this setting is effective only while either Glance View or Main Screen is shown.
  • Set Chart Updates interval in Settings to higher value. As Main Feed chart updates happen in the background, this will slightly improve battery life even if the widget is not shown.

Troubleshooting

Prices and Chart are not updating

We observed this behaviour on Venu Sq smartwatch with Connect IQ version 3.2.4. To fix that, try following steps:

  • Check if the status of your smartwatch is Connected to your mobile phone (see Garmin Devices page in Garmin Connect app, or click watch icon on My Day page of Garmin Connect app.
  • If your smartwatch is not connected, try to disable/re-enable Bluetooth on smartwatch.
  • If your smartwatch is connected, check the presence of an Internet connection on your phone. Refer to the Price Health Status chapter to get a better idea of price update failure.

Exclamation sign shown instead of coin logo

Chances are that widget settings got corrupted. To fix that, try to reset the Price Feeds configuration to its default state: select Price Feeds from the widget menu, then select Restore Defaults.
