Italy's biggest bank released its third-quarter results on Tuesday - more than two weeks earlier than scheduled - after sending them to investors and analysts overnight by mistake.
Unicredit reported a 3.9% year-on-year fall in operating income to €4.646bn. Its initial intended publication date for the results had been 8 November.
Unicredit said it made the decision to publish early after a table with "preliminary and incomplete" results was accidentally distributed on Monday.
Third-quarter preliminary highlights
- Operating income falls 3.9% to €4.646bn from the same period a year ago
- Operating profit down 3.3% from last year to €1.833bn
- Net operating profit rises 34.4% to €1.235bn
- Profit before tax rises 45.2% to €926m, while net profit after tax remains at €745m
