Qualtrics International Inc. Company profile

Track the latest Qualtrics stock price today and spot the best levels for profitable CFD trades.

American IT company Qualtrics offers a cloud-based subscription software platform for experience management. Qualtrics Experience Management (XM) is a software solution that helps different brands to evaluate the quality of their four major experiences: customers, products, employees and brands.

Founded in 2020 by Ryan Smith, Scott M Smith, Jared Smith and Stuart Orgill, the company co-headquarters in Provo (Utah) and Seattle (Washington) and has an international team of more than 3,000 people. Qualtrics has offices in Dublin (Ireland), London (England), Krakow (Poland), Munich (Germany), Sydney (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), Singapore, Toronto (Canada), Washington (DC), Dallas (Texas) Raleigh (North Carolina) and Chicago (Illinois).

In 2019 Qualtrics International Inc was acquired by SAP for $8bn. In July 2020, the company’s new parent company SAP announced its intention to make Qualtrics public.

In 2012 the company received a $70m Series A investment round from Accel and Sequoia Capital, the top US-based venture capital firms. In 2014 Qualtrics went through Series B funding and acquired $150m, which brought the company a valuation of $1bn. In 2017 Qualtrics held a Series C investment round and received $180m from the same returning investors, Sequoia Capital, Accel and Insight Partners, valuing the software provider at $2.5bn.

Qualtrics had plans to become public long before the acquisition by SAP. First, it filed for the IPO in October 2018, planning to raise $200m through offering its Class B shares. The shares of Qualtrics were meant to be listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol XM, in honour of its flagship product – the XM platform.

However, the $8bn dollar offering by SAP changed the company’s plans. Therefore, the final debut of Qualtrics in January 2021 can be called a spinoff, this time with SAP cashing in.

According to its new filing, Qualtrics offered 49.2 million Class A shares at the initial price range of $20 to $24. A bit later the company raised the price range to $22-$26. SAP preserved 423.2 million of the company’s Class B shares. The IPO filing presupposed that there will be around 510 million outstanding shares of Qualtrics International Inc (XM), which would give the company a valuation of $13bn.

The optimistic valuation was supported by the company’s bright financial outlook. For the 12-month period ended September 30, 2020, Qualtrics boosted sales up to $723m, which is a 36 per cent growth from the same period in 2019. For the nine months ended September 30, 2020, the company’s revenue was $550m, which is 31 per cent higher than in 2019.

As of the end of 2020, Qualtrics XM platform was used by more than 12,000 clients, 85 per cent of whom are members of the Fortune 100 list. Showing more profitability and revenue growth than most software companies, Qualtrics XM stock debut was one of the most long-awaited IPOs for years.
