Pan-European exchange Euronext has published its trading volumes for May 2017. The average daily transaction value on the Euronext cash order book stood at €8,471m, up +42.8% compared to May 2016 and +0.2% from April.
The average daily transaction value on exchange-traded funds (ETF) was €548m, up +22.5% on May 2016 and again steady from April. Its ETF offering remained stable with 809 listings at the end of May compared to 790 at the end of 2016.
The average daily volume on equity index derivatives reached 222,863 contracts in May 2017. This was up +14.1% compared to May 2016 and down -18.1% from the previous month.
- Average daily volume on individual equity derivatives up 39.0% compared to May 2016; and relatively stable (-1.5%) from the previous month
- Average daily volume on commodities derivatives down by -10.1% compared to May 2016 and down -42.7% from previous month
- Overall average daily volume on Euronext derivatives +1.6% compared to end of May 2016
- Open interest up at 15,151,176 contracts (-3.5% compared to end of May 2016)
In May 2017, Euronext had two new listings with construction group VolkerWessels in Amsterdam and 3D printing specialist Prodways Group in Paris that together raised €633m. In addition, €1.6bn was raised on Euronext in corporate bonds and €2bn of follow-on equity.
