Wihlborgs has today, as planned, taken possession of Castellum's property portfolio in Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg. With a larger and more cohesive portfolio, Wihlborgs is better positioned to meet the needs of its tenants and continue developing the markets where the company already has a strong presence.

The acquisition comprises 95 properties totalling 635,000 square metres and valued at SEK 13.3 billion, making it the largest acquisition in Wihlborgs’ history. The portfolio is located in areas where Wihlborgs already has an established organisation, strong local market knowledge and many existing tenants. By now bringing the operations together under common ways of working, Wihlborgs can leverage a larger and more cohesive customer offering, while using resources and expertise more efficiently.

With the completion of the acquisition, work is beginning to integrate the operations and coordinate leasing and property management. Wihlborgs will also review the composition of the combined portfolio in accordance with the company’s long-term portfolio strategy.

“We now have access to the entire portfolio and can fully begin developing it as part of our combined portfolio. Our business model is built on strong clusters, a strong local presence and the ability to support our tenants as their needs change. We are now even stronger in the locations where we have already chosen to operate, giving us better opportunities to further develop both our customer relationships and our markets,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.

The Öresund region is the largest labour market region in the Nordic countries and is characterised by population growth, a high level of innovation and access to talent. In recent years, Malmö has experienced stronger growth in the number of jobs than other major Swedish cities, while Copenhagen continues to develop, supported by major investments in infrastructure and Copenhagen Airport.

The acquired portfolio has an occupancy rate of 85 percent. The vacancies also provide Wihlborgs with opportunities to develop existing properties and find new solutions together with both existing and new tenants.

The acquisition was announced on 25 June 2026 and was approved by the Swedish Competition Authority at the end of July.
