UK Stocks-Factors to watch on September 30
Sept 30 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futures up 0.7%.
* BP: BP BP.L said on Tuesday it is proposing a six-year labour contract for workers at its 440,000-barrel-per-day Whiting refinery in Indiana as negotiations with United Steelworkers (USW) Local 7-1 continue. Separately, the company has appointed Ben Monaghan as M&A chief from early 2027.
* ANTOFAGASTA: The two main unions at Antofagasta ANTO.L Minerals' Centinela copper mine in Chile said on Tuesday they are ready to strike, but hope to avert one through mandatory government-mediated talks.
* BOE: Bank of England policymaker Alan Taylor said on Tuesday it was unclear that it would be practical for the BoE to do a single rate hike to tame inflation without fuelling unwarranted market speculation of further increases.
* BUSINESS MORALE: British firms were the least confident since April 2025 in September, a Lloyds survey showed, with executives' view of the global economic outlook darkening as the Iran war pushed up costs.
* AUTOMOTIVE: Britain's vehicle production rebounded in August as domestic car demand picked up, industry data showed, but a deepening EU trade dispute threatens to weigh on the sector's long-term outlook.
* COMMODITIES: Oil rose after Trump ruled out easing Iran sanctions, gold fell on rate concerns, and copper edged higher after upbeat Chinese factory data.
* The UK blue-chip index .FTSE closed down 0.5% on Tuesday, dragged down by heavyweight energy stocks as oil prices retreated, while British American Tobacco fell after issuing downbeat guidance.
