Turkey extends easing of minimum equity maintenance requirement to October 30

By Reuters News

- Turkey's Capital Markets Board (SPK) said on Saturday it had decided to extend until October 30 the lowering of the minimum equity maintenance requirement for margin trading transactions.

The SPK announced on September 17 that it had lowered the minimum equity maintenance requirement for margin trading transactions to 20% from 35% until October 2, allowing brokerages to apply the lower ratio in line with their risk policies.

It was one of a series of measures announced by the SPK on September 17, when the regulator also ordered the liquidation of 131 investment funds and imposed other restrictions following market turmoil.
