Swedish unemployment 8.5 pct in Aug

Sept 16 (Reuters) - STOCKHOLM, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Swedish unemployment rose to 8.5% in August, the statistics

office said on Wednesday.

The jobless rate was 7.8% in the previous month.

Total employment stood at 5.423 million people, down from 5.507 million people the previous month.

Seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate was 8.9%,

up from 8.6% in the previous month.
