Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) inked a contract with Nafith Egypt Logistics to develop and operate a digitally managed truck yard at Sokhna Port, with investments exceeding EGP 1 billion, according to a statement.

The 167,000-square-meter facility will have a daily capacity to handle up to 1,100 trucks upon full operation.

For his part, SCZONE Chairman Moustafa Shaikhon highlighted that the project backs the authority’s efforts to modernize port infrastructure and operations in partnership with the private sector. This integration plays a pivotal role in linking global supply chains and effectively contributes to achieving the state’s goals of boosting exports and localizing industries within targeted sectors.

Meanwhile, the new truck-management system will leverage advanced technology and the Nafeza platform to enable real-time planning of truck movements and reduce congestion inside the port.

Shaikhon also praised the strategic location of SCZONE ports, which serve as a link between global markets, as well as Egypt’s international free-trade agreements, securing access to more than 3.5 billion consumers worldwide.

In June, the SCZONE allocated a 114,000-square-meter plot of land to Nafith Egypt, in which Egytrans NOSCO holds a 30% stake, for 25 years for its EGP 200 million logistics yard project for organizing and directing trucks in Port Said.
