BEFORE THE BELL: SET TO END THE MONTH ON A HIGH NOTE
European equities are set to open higher on the last day of September, a month that has tested stocks' resilience as the energy-price shock from the Iran war has persisted, various major central banks have hiked interest rates, or at least, turned more hawkish, and global bonds have been under pressure.
Questions of when all of that, and associated worries like the potential impact on growth, will spill over into equities (and how big that spill might be) are being asked more and more often.
And major European indices are indeed headed for monthly losses, but it looks like some of those could be clawed back when trading begins.
Euro STOXX 50 futures are up 0.5%, as are DAX and FTSE futures, while CAC futures are up a slightly more muted 0.3%.
Taking a look at corporate news, Glencore GLEN.L on Wednesday won approval to continue operations at its Hunter Valley thermal coal project in Australia until 2045, while Britain's largest fast-food chain Greggs GRG.L raised its annual profit outlook.
