GS expects a 'new era of profitability' for salmon sector

By Reuters News

** Goldman Sachs expects the salmon farming sector to enter a "new era of profitability" driven by supply tightening into 2027

** The constrained supply across the industry will directly result in higher market prices and improved financial returns, it says

** The brokerage adds that sustainable growth is expected from 2027 as better capacity utilisation and cost efficiencies combine

** GS initiates Norwegian salmon producer SalMar SALM.OL at "buy" as it leans towards faster-growing local production and can close a license-use gap

** The broker starts peer Mowi MOWI.OL at "neutral" due to limited scope for a near-term valuation multiple expansion

** SalMar shares are up 3% at 0930 GMT, while Mowi trades at +1.4%
