Epson plans to make robotics, industrial inkjet printing, microdevices and advanced materials its next growth engines, aiming to increase industrial businesses’ share of total sales to 50 percent by 2035 from 33 percent.

Epson Korea unveiled the Japanese technology group’s global medium- and long-term growth strategy and plans for the Korean market at a press conference marking the subsidiary’s 30th anniversary in southern Seoul on Tuesday.

The event was attended by Seiko Epson President and CEO Junkichi Yoshida and Epson Korea CEO Jun Morofushi. It marked Yoshida’s first visit to South Korea since taking office.

Epson said it will maintain the competitiveness of its established printer and projector businesses while increasing investment in industrial fields including robotics, industrial inkjet systems, microdevices and advanced materials.

Under the plan, industrial businesses will account for 50 percent of group revenue by 2035, up from the current 33 percent, while their contribution to profit will rise to 70 percent from 45 percent.

Epson plans to invest a total of 280 billion yen ($1.78 billion) in growth and strategic businesses over the next three years.

The company is also targeting a return on invested capital of at least 8 percent, return on equity of at least 10 percent and return on sales of at least 8 percent by 2028.

Epson Korea reported revenue of 227.6 billion won ($168 million) for fiscal 2025, which ran from April 2025 through March 2026, up about 28 percent from the previous year. Revenue from its Precision Innovation business surged 205 percent, while its Industrial & Robotics business grew 24 percent.

“Korea is a highly important strategic market with world-class competitiveness in advanced industries such as semiconductors, batteries and information technology,” Yoshida said. “We view Korea not simply as a sales market but as a co-creation partner with which we can develop new value.”

“We will expand technologies and solutions developed with Korean customers and partners into global markets,” he added.

“Over the past 30 years, the Korean market has continued to develop amid rapid technological change, and Epson Korea has grown by connecting Epson’s technology and engineering with the value needed by customers and industries,” Morofushi said.

“The 30th anniversary is both an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and a new starting point for preparing for future growth.”
