Canada will do all it can to ensure Cleveland-Cliffs meets obligations, Carney says
OTTAWA, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Canada will ensure that Cleveland-Cliffs CLF.N meets its obligations after it announced plans to idle some production at an Ontario steel plant, putting hundreds of workers out of a job, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Tuesday.
"The company made representations and has legal obligations for employment. We intend to use all the powers that we have and pursue them to the full extent of the law," Carney told reporters in Vancouver. He did not give details.
