BASF confirms talks on Evonik takeover, says outcome remains open

BERLIN, Sept 25 (Reuters) - German chemicals group BASF BASFn.DE on Friday confirmed it is holding exploratory talks with Evonik EVKn.DE and its largest shareholder, RAG Foundation, about a potential takeover of its smaller rival.

"The course and outcome of these exploratory talks remain open at this stage", BASF said in a statement.
