*Nigeria's Dangote Group and East African governments, are scheduled to break ground on the construction of a 700,000 barrels per day refinery at Lamu along Kenya's southern coastline.

*Kenya and Uganda's statistics offices expected to release their respective consumer inflation data for September.

*Kenya's statistics office due to release economic growth data for second quarter of 2026 anytime starting on Wednesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Global bonds wobbled on Wednesday and were set for their worst month in years, hit by a toxic mix of deteriorating government finances, a glut of issuances and rising inflation as the seven-month-old US-Israeli war on Iran keeps energy costs elevated.MKTS/GLOB


WORLD OIL PRICES

Oil prices rose on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump denied he would be willing to ease sanctions on Iran while Qatar pushed for peace talks, after falling in the previous session on a recovery in crude supply from the Middle East.O/R

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS

The South African rand was little changed on Tuesday as investors weighed lower oil prices, higher gold prices and domestic economic data for clues about the health of Africa's largest economy.


NIGERIA DANGOTE FERTILISER

Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote said on Tuesday he hopes to list his group's fertiliser company Dangote Fertiliser Ltd sometime next year.


NIGERIA DANGOTE REFINERY IPO

Aliko Dangote said on Tuesday that investor demand for his ongoing Lagos refinery share sale was "enormous", as the Nigerian pressed ahead with plans for a $16 billion refinery in Kenya that would extend his energy empire across Africa.


KENYA PETROLEUM REFINERY

Kenya's President William Ruto said on Tuesday in a post on X that the Kenyan government would have a stake in Dangote's Lamu oil refinery project and that ordinary Kenyans would be able to own shares via the Nairobi Securities Exchange.


SOMALIA PIRACY

Somali pirates killed five crew members of the hijacked MT Honour 25 petroleum products tanker before it was rescued by security forces, Somalia's semi-autonomous state of Puntland said on Tuesday.

GHANA MINING

Ghana's Environmental Protection Authority has issued a pre-closure notice to Chinese-owned Cardinal Namdini Mining over an alleged unreported accident as it ramps up enforcement across the mining sector, a senior regulator said.


DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO MINING

Democratic Republic of Congo will subject major mining companies to annual audits of subcontracting practices and compliance with local-content requirements from 2027, as authorities step up efforts to increase business for Congolese-owned firms, the head of the country's subcontracting regulator told Reuters.
