Ascential Company profile
Ascential PLC (ASCL), formerly known as EMAP, is a B2B media business, specialising in information services, festivals, and exhibitions. The Ascential share price is listed on the London Stock Exchange and included in the FTSE 250 Index. The history of the company started in 1887 when Richard Winfrey purchased the Spalding Guardian, the Lynn News and the Peterborough Advertiser. The company kept continuously growing over time. It sold its 65 newspaper titles, including the 300-year-old Stamford Mercury, for £111 million to Johnston Press in 1996. In December 2015 the company was rebranded to Ascential.
