US Cash Grains-Soy, corn basis steady-lower as harvest progresses

By Reuters News

- Basis bids for soybeans and corn were steady to lower in the US Midwest on Friday as the US corn and soybean harvest chugged along.

  • The US soybean harvest was 79% complete and corn was 60% complete as of Sunday, the US Department of Agriculture reported, and merchandisers said progress was farther along in many areas.

  • However, rain showers over the weekend and early next week may stall harvest progress, an analyst note said.

  • Exporters sold 165,150 metric tons of US soybeans received in the reporting period to unknown destinations for 2026/27 delivery, the US Department of Agriculture said in its daily reporting system on Friday. USDA also reported that an additional 132,000 tons of US soybeans were sold to unknown destinations for the 2026/2027 marketing year.

  • The US Department of Agriculture on Thursday pegged weekly net soybean export sales for the current marketing year at 2,576,400 metric tons. It pegged weekly net corn export sales at 1,303,900 tons.

  • CBOT corn slipped 0.66% to $4.48-1/4 a bushel, while soybeans were up 0.1% to $12.36 a bushel.
