US Cash Grains-Corn bids steady to higher at elevators, river terminals, ethanol plants
CHICAGO, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher on Thursday at elevators, river terminals and ethanol plants, while soybean bids were steady to mixed at processors and river terminals.
Corn basis bids rose at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa, an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio and an ethanol plant in Annawan, Illinois.
The soybean basis softened at a processing plant in Decatur, Indiana but strengthened at a processor in Lafayette, Indiana. Meanwhile, they fell at a river terminal in Savanna, Illinois and rose at another in Davenport, Illinois.
CBOT soybean futures extended their decline on Thursday as traders assessed progress in harvesting what is forecast to be a record US crop offset support from renewed Chinese demand, analysts said. GRA/
Harvesting was 46% complete for soybeans and 33% complete for corn as of Sunday, the US Department of Agriculture said on Tuesday. Harvest progress remained below average for both crops after rain interrupted field work in late September.
The Midwest harvest pace is expected to pick up after Thursday, according to forecaster Commodity Weather Group.
