Qatar’s QNB raises $206mln through second Shogun bond issue
By Staff Writer
Qatar’s QNB Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa, said it has completed its second Qatari riyal-denominated Shogun bond issuance, raising QAR 750 million ($206 million) from a diversified base of Japanese investors.
The three-year transaction is the largest Qatari riyal-denominated Shogun bond issuance to date, the lender said in a statement.
The group issued its first Shogun bonds for QAR 500 million with a three-year tenor in Q1 2025 as part of its strategy to diversify its funding sources and expand access to the Japanese investor market.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) acted as arranger for the transaction.
Shogun bonds are foreign-currency bonds issued in Japan by non-Japanese entities and sold to Japanese investors.
