Dubai’s financial regulator has fined Moody’s Investors Service Middle East $585,825 (AED 2.1 million) after finding shortcomings in the credit rating agency’s safeguards for confidential information, including incidents in which sensitive data was accidentally sent outside the company.
Moody’s Middle East agreed to settle the case early, reducing the penalty to $585,825. Without the settlement discount, the fine would have been $836,892.
Moody’s Middle East unit reported seven cases of accidental data disclosure between December 2023 and May 2026.
