HEALTHCARE SHINES AS AI TRADE EASES
US stocks are modestly higher early Tuesday as a rebound in oil prices and another round of selling in AI-linked shares weigh on the market. Traders are also positioning ahead of several major earnings reports due later this week.
While the headline indexes are modestly higher, the action beneath the surface is even more constructive. Most S&P 500 sectors are higher, led by healthcare .SPXHC, which is up around 2% and on track for a record closing high. Real estate .SPLRCR, utilities .SPLRCU, and financials .SPSY are also posting gains of more than 1%.
Materials .SPLRCM, off only around 0.4%, is the weakest group.
Lower Treasury yields are helping support several groups, including big banks .SPXBK, regional banks .KRX, biotech .NBI, housing-related stocks .HGX and small caps .RUT as the US 10-year yield falls back toward 5.10%.
After falling more than 2% earlier in the session, chip stocks .SOX have pared their losses and are now around flat on the day.
