Brazil soybean exports to slip in 2027 as crushing hits record, Abiove says

By Reuters News

- Brazil's soybean exports are expected to fall 0.8% in 2027 from 2026 to 113 million metric tons, crushers group Abiove said on Thursday, as stronger domestic processing demand limits supply to importers such as China.

Export revenue from the soybean complex, nonetheless, is still forecast to reach a record $69.3 billion, up from the $60.3 billion estimated for 2026, supported by higher commodity prices.

  • Soybean crushing forecast at a record 66 million tons in 2027, up 3.8% from 2026, driven by rising domestic demand

  • Abiove expects the domestic biodiesel industry to use more soybean oil next year, with its forecast assuming a 1-percentage-point increase in the mandatory biodiesel blend to 16% in March

  • Soybean meal production seen up 3.8% to a record 50.8 million tons, with exports rising 4% to 26.3 million tons, also an all-time high

  • Soybean oil production seen up 3.7% to a record 13.27 million tons, but exports expected to fall 2.6% to 1.9 million tons as biodiesel production absorbs more supply

  • Brazil is the world's largest soybean producer and exporter. Abiove represents companies including ADM ADM.N, Bunge BG.N, Amaggi, Cargill, COFCO and Louis Dreyfus
