UK Stocks-Factors to watch on September 29
Sept 29 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Tuesday, with futures up 0.1%.
* ASTRAZENECA: AstraZeneca to invest $2 billion in Summit Therapeutics for cancer drug tie-up. Separately, HUTCHMED (China) said that AstraZeneca had applied to the US FDA for approval of the ORPATHYS-TAGRISSO combination to treat patients with advanced lung cancer.
* INFLATION: British shop price inflation slowed slightly in September despite rising cost pressures on retailers from the Iran war, according to a survey from the British Retail Consortium, which urged the government to do more to help.
* ENERGY: Andy Burnham will announce plans to create Great British Grid, a publicly owned body within Great British Energy, during his Labour Party conference speech, the party said on Monday.
* OIL: Oil prices rose for a second successive session as concern over Middle East supply disruption from the US-Iran conflict outweighed signs of recovering crude exports from the region.
* GOLD: Gold inched up but hovered near a more than seven-week low as concerns that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates higher for longer outweighed investor focus on upcoming US economic data.
* METALS: Copper advanced after a sharp selloff in the previous session, even as a strong dollar, elevated oil prices and concerns about Chinese demand kept a cap on bullish sentiment.
* The UK blue-chip index .FTSE closed down 0.10% on Monday as weaker metal prices and rising bond yields kept risk appetite in check.
