Turkey - Factors to Watch on Sept 25

ANKARA, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday.

The lira traded at 48.9650 against the U.S. dollar at 0405 GMT, after closing at 48.8550 on Thursday.

The BIST 100 index closed 2.74% lower at 12,888.33 points on Thursday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares held their nerve on Friday as a relentless bond selloff pushed longer dated US yields to two-decade highs, raising borrowing costs worldwide and threatening lofty equity valuations.

VICE PRESIDENT

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will attend ground breaking and opening ceremonies in the eastern province of Elazig (1130 GMT).

INDUSTRY MINISTER

Industry Minister Fatih Kacir will visit an R&D facility in Istanbul (0600 GMT).

HEALTH MINISTER

Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu will attend a session on preparations for pandemics at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

FOREIGN ARRIVALS

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will release August data on foreign tourist arrivals (0800 GMT).

FUNDS CRISIS

President Tayyip Erdogan said a recent crisis involving investment funds posed no risk to the country's financial system or broader economy, adding that authorities would introduce measures to prevent a recurrence.
