Arab Finance: Egypt plans to establish eight to nine new investment zones across its governorates over the next two to three years, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid said during talks with S&P Global Ratings.

The initiative aims to attract investment, create jobs near population centers, boost women’s labor force participation, and support localized development, Farid added.

During the meeting, he outlined the government’s efforts to enhance the business climate through structural and institutional reforms, including the launch of the Economic Entities Platform, a unified digital gateway for company incorporation, licenses, approvals, and documentation.

The ministry is also preparing a pipeline of investment opportunities in healthcare, tourism, housing, and energy, while pursuing a sector-focused strategy to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) based on 12 priority sectors identified under a strategy developed in collaboration with the World Bank.

He further indicated that the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) seeks to maximize returns on state-owned assets through specialized sub-funds, including its industrial investment sub-fund, which has EGP 10 billion in authorized capital and EGP 500 million in paid-in capital.
