Neogen falls after FDA issues warning letters for veterinary product
** Shares of food and animal safety solutions firm Neogen NEOG.O fall 3.5% to $13.23
** The US FDA has issued warning letters to Neogen and contract manufacturer Sciarra Aeromed after a wound-care product marketed as sterile was linked to serious fungal infections in nearly 100 horses
** At least 20 horses were euthanized after treatment for joint infections failed, FDA says
** Neogen recalled the product, Vet HYCOAT, in late January, the FDA says
** FDA testing found several types of fungi in samples of the product, including Purpureocillium lilacinum, an organism that can be difficult to treat with antifungal drugs
** The reported deaths are the largest number of horse fatalities associated with a quality problem involving an FDA-regulated veterinary medical product, according to the agency
