EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: FUTURES HIGHER, OIL EBBS

European stock index futures are higher on Friday, helped by a slight retreat in the oil price on Middle East peace hopes.

Euro STOXX 50 futures are up 0.9%, while futures on the DAX , CAC and FTSE are up 0.4% to 0.8%.

Oil prices are lower, helped by reports that US and Iranian negotiators in New York are exploring a phased path out of war that would involve a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile discussions between US President Trump and China's President Xi Jinping appeared heavy on symbolism but light on substance regarding trade. Still, that's better than a grand falling out.
