CALM TILL PAYROLLS, PERHAPS

The premarket calm has extended into the first hour of trading, with the STOXX 600 up 0.4% and France's CAC 40 up a similar amount, even if the broad European benchmark is still set for a 1.2% weekly fall.

Rates are much calmer, if not out of the woods, and that is helping ease the mood, and allowing the chip complex to lift broader indexes. Tech stocks are up 1.5% at around six-week highs . .SX8P

The most notable single stock move is IG Group IGG.L with the London-listed retail-focused broker down 20% after a weak third quarter trading update.

But really it's the macro picture that's driving everything, and so we're on hold until US payrolls. If we get a number that moves Treasuries and broader rates, expect a reaction in stocks.
