Snowflake was created with an idea of combining data warehousing capabilities, cloud elasticity and big data platforms’ flexibility at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions. It built a cloud-based data warehouse system that can compete with on-premises data warehouse products from the industry’s leaders such as International Business Machines (IBM), Oracle (ORCL), and Teradata (TDC).

Today, the company provides integrated data management capabilities to enterprises in the US and internationally. While it pursues organisations of all sizes, its main focus remains on medium and large firms. Businesses from all industries and sectors are using the company’s services, with some of the most prominent customers including Capital One (COF), Adobe (ADBE), Netflix (NFLX), Electronic Arts (EA), McKesson (MCK), Logitech (LOGN), Lululemon (LULU), Doordash, Hulu, Lionsgate, Office Depot and Yamaha.

Snowflake has developed a robust partner programme, which helps the business expand its product’s reach and capabilities. Some of its strategic alliances include those with Amazon (AMZN) Web Services (AWS), Microsoft (MSFT) Azure, Google (GOOGL) Cloud, Accenture (ACN), Salesforce (CRM), Dataiku and Deloitte.
