Elementis PLC (ELM) is one of the British biggest personal care and speciality chemicals businesses, operating in the UK, US, Asia, and Europe. The company’s processes are divided into three sectors: Surfactants, Chromium, and Specialty Products. The Elementis share price is listed on the London Stock Exchange. It is also a part of the large FTSE 250 Index. The company’s beginnings go back to 1844, when it was established in Liverpool by Daniel and Smith Harrison, and Joseph Crosfield. Its main objective was to trade coffee and tea. It became one of the major tea traders in the UK in the 1860s. Almost 40 years later, it diversified into managing rubber plantations in the Far East through the acquisition of a number of plantation companies.
