AST SpaceMobile was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Midland, Texas, US. The company’s SpaceMobile service aims to bridge the connectivity gap between travellers moving in and out of areas without mobile services like at sea, in a flight, or even on mountain tops where major mobile networks are unavailable. 

SpaceMobile’s purpose is to connect people during a time of crisis or natural disaster at broadband speeds where users do not have to invest in expensive and specialised hardware. This will help speed up coordinating response and recovery irrespective of local infrastructure and ensure communication during an emergency. 

The company went public in 2021 through a merger with New Providence, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. AST SpaceMobile, Inc. stock trades under the ticker symbol ASTS.
